The new journalism manual
Attention journalists! The new rule is here. According to BJP Minister Vinod Kumar Singh you are first sons of Bharat Mata. Forget your education and career. What matters is that you be loyal to the nation. And that’s done by chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ in BJP functions.
On Tuesday, this minister asked the audience who included journalists to raise their hands when he chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ [Because love for the nation, da.] Some of them did, some didn’t. Then he got to the (nonsensical) point. He asked the journalists who refused to raise their hands if they were supporters of ‘Pakistan Mata.’ He said that they were first ‘sons of Bharat Mata and then mediapersons.’
One small doubt aa
If all mediapersons are first sons of Bharat Mata, then
- Are there no female/other gender mediapersons?
- If yes, is Bharat Mata the mother of Rana Ayyub also? Then why don’t you publish her book on Gujarat riots?
- Should all the job applications for mediapersons now have Bharat Mata in place of guardian?
Thanks to the ruling party, we are now familiar with this ‘Bharat Mata’ frenzy. After all, we are that nation who plays the national anthem before films in movie theatres. Vande Mataram was made mandatory in schools recently. Small doubt aa. If a journalist is attending a film screening in a school, should they play Vande Mataram or should it be Jana Gana Mana…?
Azaan, church bells out, Bharat Mata in
That’s not all because come on, what’s the fun without some minority bashing and anti-Muslim sentiments. According to Hindustan Times, in the same function, Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai said that ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ should ‘replace azaan from mosques and sounds of bells from churches.’
Here is a grand idea. Why don’t you replace cows mooing with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, railway announcements with ‘Vande Mataram’ and ambulance siren with ‘Jana Gana Mana’? If that doesn’t satiate your inner Hindutva, you can replace all Muslim and Christian festivals with Raksha Bandhan so that more girls can be molested. Surely, you would love that with your excellent victim blaming skills. Babul Supriyo thinks stalking and kidnapping is ‘mischief’ and Shaina NC thinks posting pictures of a girl who was stalked is the right thing to do. Oh yeah, she later came up with a story of ‘hacking’ regarding her posts. Just like how Nityanand said that he had not meant what he had said. Is that a daily thing that you practise sir? Pretending you were high when you made really nasty statements? Ever considered starting a course that teaches the same. You’re going to make a lot of money, with Bharat Mata’s blessings.
